Burnout after a long period of being stressed out is no joke.

The things is there is a good chance you are missing the emotional signs you are stressed out.

In this post I will be talking about the emotional signs but please watch out for the post next week looking at the physical signs you are stressed out.

Burnout as a result of prolonged stress happened to me and I am sorry to hear that numbers are on the rise .

There are so many statistics out there but here are a couple which made me shudder.

According to the research conducted by Westfield Health, close to half (46%) of the UK workers are close to burnout.

More than half (79%) of respondents have considered leaving their current job due to feelings of burnout.

I could go on but you can always go on and Google it yourself.

Suffice to say, we cannot go on like this.

We cannot go on like this as individuals and neither can we go on like this in organisations.

For me the consequences were huge both professionally and personally.

  • I didn’t work for a year – leaving my school without a headteacher.

  • I had many days when I could not do even basic tasks.

  • I even had days when I could not even eat.

  • I gave up my 20 year career in education.

Although this transition put me on an amazing path in the end, there have to better, less painful and disruptive ways to make a change in our lives.

I am also grateful that burn out was where I ended up rather than having a stroke or a heart attack like happens to so many due to stress.

The thing I missed on an epic scale and you might be missing to are the emotional signs you are stressed out.

If you are stressed, there is a good chance you are missing them too. I suspect that is because stress is so all encompassing that you cannot see clearly enough to evaluate your own wellbeing.

Please take a moment to read these emotional signs you are stressed out and share them with the people love and care about. (if you would like the PDF, please drop me a message and I will send it to you)

No-one should have to go through what I went through. There is a better way.
